POLYTHEISM : ENMITY TOWARDS GOD UNDER THE GUISE OF RELIGION
&
DEISM : THE PHILOSOPHIZATION OF REACTION TO POLYTHEISM
I would like to INTRODUCE to you, in his own words, the valuable and important book of the late Prof. Dr. Yaşar Nuri Öztürk, titled “Polytheism : Enmity to God under the guise of religion & Deism : The philosophization of the reaction to Polytheism”.
The late Prof. Dr. Öztürk begins introducing this book of him by asking the question “HOW DID HIDDEN POLYTHEISM DESTROY THE ISLAMIC WORLD?” and continues :
This book of the late Prof. Dr. Öztürk is the FIRST SCHOLARLY WORK that introduces polytheism exactly as it is described in the Quran. He says polytheism is one of the fundamental calamities that the Quran wants to introduce not only to Muslims alone but to all of humanity. And he does this by overcoming with and breaking the Arab-Umayyad embargo on this very subject of polytheism.
Covert polytheism is the establishment of a “Hegemony and Reign of Lords - substitute deities” over humanity by hiding itself under the umbrella of religion and using the deception of “Respect for the Holy!”.
The GREATEST DANGER that the Quran draws our attention to is this COVERT POLYTHEISM.
The Quran clearly shows us that the perpetrators and instigators of this covert crime of polytheism have ALWAYS been the REPRESENTATIVES OF RELIGION (The CLERGY in all religions) throughout human history.
The Quran complains in hundreds of its verses about these representatives of religion (the clergy), directly or indirectly and with great emphasis.
We say the RELIGION OF MONOTHEISM is the religion of ALL OF THE PROPHETS, starting from the first human and first Prophet Adam up to the last Prophet Muhammad, including inbetween, the Prophets Abraham, Moses and Jesus…
Unexceptionally all of them invited the humanity to the “UNIVERSAL LEGACY OF MONOTHEISM”.
This UNIVERSAL HERITAGE OF FAITH of all the prophets has been corrupted and rotted always from within by the “RELIGION OF POLYTHEISM” which is virtually a “HEGEMONY & REIGN OF LORDS-the substitute deities”.
IMAM JAFER SADIQ (d. 148/765), one of the grandsons of Prophet Muhammad and also “ONE OF THE GREATEST REPRESENTATIVES OF QUR’ANIC COMMENTARY AND WISDOM”, made the following magnificent statement that has been recorded in history :
“THE UMAYYADS DID NOT PREVENT LEARNING OF THE MONOTHEISTIC FAITH. BUT THEY PREVENTED LEARNING OF POLYTHEISM AND IN THIS WAY, THEY DID THE GREATEST EVIL TO ISLAM”
This evil obstacle of the Umayyads was recorded in books as unarguable truth by the pro-Umayyad religious scholars who were servants and puppets of the Umayyads.
Consequently, the Muslim masses were, for centuries, deprived of recognizing and noticing the polytheism as it was introduced in the Quran.
Since polytheism could not be truely and properly noticed and recognized, the MONOTHEISTIC FAITH could not be truely and properly recognized and learned either.
And since the MONOTHEISTIC FAITH could not be truely and properly recognized and learned, polytheism easily encompassed the entire Islamic world and dominated it.
The Quran clearly and explicitly states that any people that falls into the swamp of polytheism cannot prosper and that no value that such a people produces or will produce would be of use and benefit.
When we look at the Islamic world from this perspective, we clearly see the real reason why this world has been dragged from one disappointment to another for centuries.
The Quran says in the Surah Al-Mu’minun, verse 1 :
“Surely the believers are saved.”
On the contrary of this Quranic glad tidings, the miserable appearance of the Islamic world, according to the data of a Western statistical survey, is as follows :
Countries where Muslims are miserable: Palestine, Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Yemen, Syria…
Countries where Muslims are unhappy: Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkestan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia…
Countries where Muslims are happy and joyful: Australia, Canada, England, France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, USA, Norway, Holland, Denmark…
This observation clearly shows that, in all Muslim countries, Muslims are miserable or unhappy while in all non-Muslim countries, Muslims are happy and joyful. Although Turkey is not an oil-rich country, it had an exceptional place and status among Muslim countries. It is because Turkey was different from all other Islamic countries, THANKS TO THE ENLIGHTENMENT AND RATIONALISM brought by the light of Atatürk and the Republican revolutions.
The crusader imperialist West realized this privilaged status of Turkey at a very early stage and undermined THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE TURKISH REPUBLIC AND ATATURK’S LEGACY BY SEDUCING AND USING THE SCOUNDRELS AND FOOLS AMONGST US WHO THOUGHT HOSTILITY TOWARDS ATATURK IS A RELIGION! AND IN THIS WAY, THEY OBSTACLED TURKEY’S EXCEPTIONAL STATUS IN THE WHOLE ISLAMIC WORLD.
Nowadays, Turkey might sadly deserve to be included, at least, among the unhappy countries, if not the miserable ones.
However, if the present trend persists, Turkey WILL INEVITABLY BE regarded among those miserable countries after a while.
On the other hand, as Muslims, we have to face the reality of this contradictory and awkward situation :
Muslims accuse the western Christian societies of being infidels and thus hellish. But, all of these Christian countries are actually the countries where Muslims themselves live happily and joyfully!
Moreover, Muslims are not only content with accusing these societies of being infidels and hellish, they even claim that they want to “GUIDE” those societies to the right path…!
What might be the reason-s for this tragicomic Muslim fancifulness…?
When the facts based on REASON, QURAN and HISTORY are taken into consideration, the answer to this question is briefly as this:
IN THE ENTIRITY OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD, “POLYTHEISM which is HIDDEN BEHIND THE CURTAIN AND MASK OF RELIGION, HAS TOTALLY DOMINATED THE SOULS AND LIVES OF ALL MUSLIMS…
This book analyzes this paradox on the grounds of PRINCIPLES OF REASON, RELIGION AND HISTORY.
In this respect, this book focuses on the phenomenon of POLYTHEISM which is the greatest calamity and disaster not only in the history of Islam and Muslims, but also in the long history of humanity as a whole, since the time of Prophet Adam.
This book MAKES RELIGIOUS, PHILOSOPHICAL AND HISTORICAL ANALYSES on the phenomenon of POLYTHEISM, AND DERIVES SCIENTIFIC CONCLUSIONS FROM THESE ANALYSES IN THE LIGHT OF QUR'ANIC DATA.
The path that today's POLITICAL RELIGIONIST BIGOTS amongst us walk on is EXACTLY THE SAME as the path of the polytheist Umayyads whom they follow.
Today’s polytheist political Islamists, just like their polytheist Umayyad predecessors, are claiming, on the one hand, that they are serving the MONOTHEIST RELIGION of ISLAM, by building mosques, opening Quran Schools and Imam Hatip Schools numbering in the hundreds of thousands.
On the other hand, they are COOPERATING WITH THE CRUSADER IMPERIALISTS, who have historically been THE MOST DEVILIGENT AND FIERCE ENEMIES OF ISLAM.
By doing so, they are BLOCKADING ALL THE ROADS TO THE RECOGNITION OF POLYTHEISM.
In this way, they both deceive and console naive Muslims who are good-intentioned but do not know their religion well, and they also play into the hands of the enemies of Islam.
This book is a modest effort that hopes and aims to improve the ill fortune of Islam and Muslims. And, with this feature, it is the FIRST BOOK that attempts to provide an answer to the longing and yearning of IMAM JAFER SADIQ, centuries after that esteemed Imam.
At this very point, it is our duty as Muslims to underline the following naked truths:
In every age and every era of human history, each and every time mankind has found and recognized the truth, it has always been difficult for humanity to accept it as the truth. Because, once the truth is found and recognized, ITS EXPLOITERS immediately stepped in. And during this exploitation process, dozens, sometimes even hundreds of fraudsters, disguised as representatives of the truth, mislead the masses from the right path.
Hence, the following conclusion is inevitably drawn:
- IF WE ARE TO SUFFER A UNIT OF SUFFERING UNTIL WE FIND THE TRUTH,
- WE NECESSARILY ARE TO ENDURE A THOUSAND UNITS OF SUFFERINGS IN ORDER TO PROTECT THAT TRUTH IN ITS AUTHENTICITY.
When monotheism gets corrupted, then what inevitably emerges is polytheism.
All prophets from Adam to Muhammad have always taught and recommended to humanity the belief of monotheism and have made serious warnings and admonitions to humanity to never deviate from the true belief of monotheism.
However, despite all the efforts, advices and warnings of all the prophets in this direction, all the monotheistic religions of DIVINE ORIGIN have suffered the same consequence and have always been corrupted in the hands of their very own believers.
In other words, all the monotheistic religions, including JUDAISM, CHRISTIANITY and ISLAM have lost their purity and authenticity and have been corrupted and TURNED INTO RELIGIONS OF POLYTHEISM.
If this were not the case, Allah would not have sent prophets to humanity one after another.
Unfortunately, our religion Islam, which is the last and most perfect religion of DIVINE ORIGIN, could not either save itself from this CONSEQUENCE OF CORRUPTION.
What proves that Prophet Muhammad is the LAST OF THE PROPHETS is QURAN which is his greatest miracle.
The Quran has been DIVINELY protected and preserved from distortion and corruption.
If the Quran had been subject of distortion and corruption like all those previously revealed divine-sourced books, Prophet Muhammad would not have been chosen as the Last Messenger.
The working of Allah's unchangeable laws regarding the history of prophets and religions proves this.
Therefore, Quran is the only Book which has come from the doubtlessly DIVINE SOURCE AND POWER.
Thus, we Muslims need to read the Quran regularly with this faith and consciousness. Those who read the Quran on a regular basis will certainly witness and feel in their hearts that, each and every time they read it, some of the corruptions, distortions and deviations from the universal monotheistic legacy of all the prophets throughout human history, will have been noticed and corrected.
And, they will also joyfully feel in their hearts that the monotheistic fundaments of their own faith will have been strengthened.
This is because the mankind has got nowhere else to go to and no place to take refuge to other than the Quran in the name of true monotheistical religion.
If the humanity inclusive of Muslims, Christians, Jews and believers of all the other religions do not have their shares of enlightenment from the Quran, they shall inevitably be destined to fall into either one of the below pitfalls :
1- Being stuck in polytheism, that is, a belief full of substitute gods,
2- Being stuck in atheism, that is, the complete denial of God.
As long as polytheism is not understood and recognized as it is shown in detail in the Quran, it will not possible to understand, learn and live Islam as it is shown in the Quran (that is, the ISLAM IN THE QURAN).
Muslims, unfortunately, did not and do not still recognize polytheism, even though they have a BOOK like the QURAN at their disposal, which is of divine origin and has not been subject of any distortion, change or damage.
All efforts of Muslims to notice and recognize polytheism have been and are still being left fruitless.
It is because those whose reign and hegemony are indexed to the existence of a MANIPULATED ISLAM have been playing all kinds of evil and satanic games so that polytheism is not noticed and recognized by Muslims.
If the evil nature of polytheism is noticed and understood by Muslims, it will be evident that the religion of the Islamic world is not the true Islam. And, such a phenomenon will shake all the balances of interest in the world. “Political Islam”, “Islamic terrorism” and finally “moderate Islam” are just some of these evil games played in Turkey and all the other Muslim majority countries.
Muslims who do not rebel against polytheism cannot be true believers of monotheism, no matter how often and how highly-pitched they shout “Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest”, how much they pray and fast and how many mosques and religious schools they build and open in their countries…
As described by Prophet Muhammad ;
Polytheism infiltrates into the faith of mankind and corrupts their faith as insidiously and secretly as the silent move of a black ant through the pitch-black hairs of a black robe, in pitch darkness and deep silence of the night.
Namely, it is that much difficult to notice it.
The most vital and most delicate efforts of believers of the Quran should be their efforts to recognize polytheism.
If there exist no such efforts, we can neither speak of a believer of the Quran nor of the religion of the Quran.
The following Quranic verse clearly shows that the substitute gods of the polytheistic religion are successful in distributing worldly and material benefits to Muslims :
They will say: “All-Glorified You are! It was not for us to take for friends other than You. Though You lavished on them and their forefathers blessings and ease in life, they ungratefully forgot all remembrance of You. They were people doomed to perdition. (Furqan, 18).
The term “blessing” used in this verse includes all the worldly goods (benefits) from money to fornication with women.
The main determining factors for both the saints of satan who lead to polytheism and the flocks of people who blindly follow them are wordly blessings and benefits.
The shocking term “HOSTILITY towards ALLAH” in the title of this book is taken from the 114th verse of the At-Tawbah Surah :
“Abraham’s asking for forgiveness for his father was only because of a promise he made to him. When it became clear to him that he was an ENEMY OF ALLAH, he distanced himself from him. It is a fact that Abraham was a gentle, soft-hearted person who was an Evvâh who felt sorry for others and cried out in pain.”
(Evvâh - أَلأَوَّاهُ : groaning, sighing)
This book consists of 4 chapters, each of which clarifies the following topics :
Chapter 1- The nature and dimensions of polytheism,
Chapter 2- Types of polytheism,
Chapter 3- Hypocrisy, the most destructive form of polytheism,
Chapter 4- Analysis of deism which emerged as a reaction to the polytheism produced by the Class of Clergy, from the perspective of the Qur'an.
