I wish FG could have understood Ataturk corectly
I wish Fethullah Gülen could have understood Atatürk correctly
Greetings!
I previously published an article titled “If Fethullah Gülen Could Have Understood Atatürk Correctly, Would July 15th 2016 Coup D’Etat Still Have Happened?” on 28.10.2021 at Munferit.net.
Summary : In my below article titled “If Fethullah Gülen Had Correctly Understood Atatürk, Would July 15th 2016 Coup D’Etat Still Have Happened?”, I question whether the July 15th 2016 Turkish coup attempt would have occurred if Fethullah Gülen had understood Atatürk and his reforms differently (i.e., truly).
I suggest here that Gülen's perceived obsession with seizing the state led to the "Hizmet Community" being branded "FETO-Fethullahist Terrorist Organization" and losing global admiration.
I am now posting this article fully below.
I hope you read it and find it beneficial.
Respectfully,

If Fethullah Gülen Could Have Understood Atatürk Correctly, Would July 15th 2016 Coup D’Etat Still Have Happened?
(Original publication date on www.munferit.net: 28.10.2021)
A few days ago, in the context of the part 36th of journalist Ahmet Dönmez’s series “How the Hizmet Community was dragged step-by-step toward July 15th 2016 Coup D’Etat from the inside” titled “Hodjaeffendi was defeated by Fethullah Gülen, we were all considered defeated”, I would like to share my personal comments with you.
First of all, I congratulate Journalist Ahmet Dönmez.
He is producing one of the finest works one could expect from a journalist who does his job well.
In the context of this series, and especially its latest part, I have a few questions for those who collectively love and respect both the “HODJAEFFENDI” and “FETHULLAH GÜLEN”:
I wonder, if Fethullah Gülen Hodjaeffendi;
- Had tried to understand Atatürk and his reforms in the light of the Qur'an from the very beginning—that is, if he had been at peace with him and the reforms made by him—would he have been so determined and intent on capturing the state?
- Had he reflected on the possibility that Atatürk was not as bad a person as we (and he) were taught, and that Ataturk’s true intention was not to destroy Islam but to keep it alive in its true and correct form as found in the Qur'an, would he still have organized those "confidential" (mahrem) and "special" activities aimed at seizing the state? Would he ever have felt the need to?
- Had he consulted with other Islamic scholars who thought differently than him regarding whether Atatürk’s true intention was to harm Islam and Muslims—for example, with Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Atay or the late Prof. Dr. Yaşar Nuri Öztürk—would this distinguished Hizmet Community, which he inspired to reach the level of a “global movement of goodness” over 40 years, still have been razed to the ground (hâk ile yeksân)?
I wonder, if we—the religious people of Turkey;
- Had been able to overcome THE CRISIS OF CONFIDENCE between us (the Hizmet Community) and the protectors/guardians of the Republic of Turkiye, which was founded upon Atatürk's reforms?
- That is, if those tasked with protecting the state and its regime could have trusted us—the religious (in fact, RELIGIONIST) people of the country—to not harm the regime or its founding principles?
- If so, would they still have guarded the state bureaucracies—defense, internal security, intelligence, judiciary, etc.—so protectively from us and our religious youth?
Now, these base, mean, filthy and immoral political Islamist cannibals, jackals, and hyenas appear to have captured, or are about to capture, the state.
- So, what happened now? What will happen next?
- Have the heads of this mean and base political Islamist mob reached the clouds, or will they?
- Even if they do, what of it?
According to my reading, Fethullah Gülen Hodjaeffendi’s 40-year obsession with the state was not worth it; all these calamities and disasters that have befallen us were not worth it… 😞
In fact, the Lord had granted this distinguished Hizmet Community the opportunity to perform honorable services in over 170 countries.
In Turkey and around the world, we were striving beautifully to become a GLOBAL MOVEMENT OF GOODNESS, looked upon with envy and respected with admiration.
Because of the obsession of Fethullah Gülen Hodjaeffendi and the visionless, low-caliber, archaic, anachronistic, and stunted theologian "mollahs" surrounding him with "CAPTURING THE STATE APPARATUS" we were branded with that humiliating "FETO-Fethullahist Terrorist Organization" label in our own country and fell into a state where we cannot show our faces in public.
We ruined all the dreams and the good opinions (husn-i zan) of those who watched us with envy and interest worldwide.
- It is a pity… 😞
- They wasted this distinguished Hizmet Community… 😞
- This story should not have ended like this… 😞
- The rhyme of this poem should not have been set this way… 😞
However, if Fethullah Gülen Hodjaeffendi had only looked at the 3-volume work titled “ATATÜRK’S SPEECHES AND STATEMENTS” (available at the below links of Atatürk Research Center)
https://atam.gov.tr/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Ataturkun-Soylev-ve-Demecleri-C1.pdf

or similar studies, he might have realized that Atatürk was not an enemy of religion as he imagined.
In the sunset of his life, he would not have subjected himself or those who followed him to such a tragic end (sû-i âkibet)… 😞
But after this hour, whatever we say is in vain… 😞
I hope these comments of mine are not misunderstood by readers—whether they like Fethullah Gulen or not—as arrogance or "selling cress to the cress-seller" (Tereciye tere satmak-Teaching an expert their business!).
With many greetings and love,
Abdullah Erdemli
