Fethullah Gülen, Hizmet and İslam

My current observations regarding Fethullah Gülen, the Hizmet (Gulen) Movement, Hizmet volunteers (hizmetkârlar) and the religion of Islam…

The target audience of this article is, primarily, the volunteers of the Hizmet (Gulen) movement (i.e., hizmetkârlar in Turkish)…

As you know, for a long time, I have been writing CRITICAL articles about Fethullah Gülen, the Hizmet Movement, and its volunteers. 

In addition to what I have written on these subjects in the past, and in a manner that supports those writings, I now wish to share the following thoughts of mine with you.

I used to follow and read/listen to journalists and writers affiliated with Hizmet Movement with great curiosity in the past (namely, during the initial period when I first arrived in Switzerland in October 2017). 

However, over time—with the exception of journalist Ahmed Dönmez—I stopped following, reading, and listening to the other Hizmet-affiliated journalists and writers. 

The reason for this is that I found Ahmed Dönmez to be the ONLY journalist who explains and writes the most realistic and accurate information regarding the calamities and troubles that have befallen Hizmet Movement and its volunteers, doing so without any obfuscation, without twisting or bending the truth, without beating around the bush, without distortion, and with the most objective attitude.

Regarding journalist Ahmed Dönmez, I have read or listened to nearly everything he has written and said concerning:

• His writings both before and after the July 15, 2016 coup attempt in Turkiye. 
• His writings on the corruption files of the AKP (Justice & Development Party) and THE CHIEF THIEF (BAŞÇALAN) Erdoğan,
• His writings on the "conspiracy" (kumpas) files against the TURKISH ARMED FORCES, such as Ergenekon and others,
• And his efforts to help us understand the background of all these saddening events.

From what journalist Dönmez has written and explained throughout this long process, I HAVE LEARNED THE FOLLOWING:

• How did Fethullah Gülen and the members of the HIGH ADVISORY COUNCIL (Yüksek İstişâre Heyeti) in his inner circle act and what did they do during this long process?
• How were they directed and manipulated by MALICIOUS INDIVIDUALS who infiltrated them?
• How were they dragged into the July 15, 2016 coup attempt in Turkiye?
• Why did they not prevent this coup attempt, even though they could have IF THEY HAD WANTED TO?
• Why did they fail to REALIZE that state intelligence agents had been SURREPTITIOUSLY infiltrating their ranks for many decades?
• How did these intelligence agents insidiously persuade and encourage them to embark on the July 15, 2016 coup attempt?
• How did they turn a deaf ear to those—both from within and outside Hizmet Movement—who warned them not to embark on such clandestine, risky, and dangerous adventures?
• Why did they constantly ignore the sincere and selfless (hasbî) warnings from within the Movement regarding the need to audit the activities of the "Big Brothers" (Ağabeylik), the "clandestine brothers" (mahrem ağabeylik), the "clandestine imams" (mahrem imamlık), and the "special imams" (husûsî imamlık), and to strictly monitor who was acting on whose behalf?
• Why did they swallow hook, line, and sinker (sazan gibi) the disinformations they were openly and clearly confronted with?
• Why was Fethullah Gülen, who has lived in Pennsylvania, USA for a long time, unable to realize that the individuals involved in the two-way flow of news, information, instructions, requests, and advice regarding the happenings and developments in Turkiye had gone out of control, and why could he not prevent them from doing so?
• Why did Fethullah Gülen generally turn a blind eye and fail to intervene in the power plays (ayak oyunları) stemming from jealousy, envy, and professional rivalry among critical individuals active in the upper layers of the Movement, despite being aware of them?

As someone of normal intelligence and understanding, I learned all these details by reading and listening to journalist Dönmez. 

Strangely enough, many Hizmet volunteers (hizmetkârlar) with whom I have shared these views of mine—and especially those among them who have received theological (ilâhiyyatçı) education and training—CLAIMED, AND STILL INSIST ON CLAIMING, that these points were not even implied by Dönmez!

Furthermore, these theology-educated (İlâhiyyatçı) Hizmet volunteers accuse me of harboring "unfounded suspicion" (Sû-i Zan) [see the Explanatory Notes on Key Concepts at the bottom] regarding Fethullah Gülen, the members of his HIGH ADVISORY COUNCIL, the "clandestine individuals”, the "clandestine imams”, “special persons”, and the Hizmet Movement itself!

However, journalist Dönmez, through both individual articles and speeches as well as long series of writings and talks, has consistently and repeatedly conveyed all this information, even mentioning the NAMES of many clandestine and dark individuals involved in these developments and activities, along with their clandestine connections.

These supposedly theology-educated (İlâhiyyatçı) Hizmet volunteers who accuse me of "unfounded suspicion" (Sû-i Zan) regarding Fethullah Gülen and those in his inner circle either DO NOT/CAN NOT FULLY UNDERSTAND what they read and hear, or they choose to FEIGN IGNORANCE because it does not suit their interests, does not fit their agenda, or because they do not want to disturb their mental comfort and established dogmas (ezberler)!

WHAT CAN I SAY…?

THAT IS THEIR BUSINESS…!

"Whatever floats their boat!"…!

In addition to all this information provided by journalist Ahmed Dönmez, I have READ and LISTENED TO SOME OF THE CONFESSIONS made in Turkiye’s courts by criminal individuals affiliated with the Hizmet Movement who sought to benefit from the EFFECTIVE REPENTANCE LAW (Etkin Pişmanlık Yasası) to avoid punishment for their crimes or to receive a reduction in their sentences. 

The confessions of these "Effective Repentance" informants (aktif pişmanlık itirafçıları) affiliated with Hizmet Movement were also quite informative and enlightening for me.

I am as certain as I am that MY NAME IS ABDULLAH that more than 95% of the members of this structure—which I knew as the Hizmet Movement while in my home country, of which I was a sympathizer for many decades, and which I defended self-sacrificingly against all odds—are absolutely innocent.

However, certain "clandestine" and DARK INDIVIDUALS—starting with Fethullah Gülen himself—who made decisions, took initiatives, and performed deeds that could burden the Movement with responsibility, force it into a position of accountability, or bring shame upon its face, were not innocent at all.

The Ergenekon and similar conspiracy cases, which the clandestine and dark persons in Hizmet Movement carried out with the air of a "Bumbling Hero" (Vatan Kurtaran Şâbân) and which aimed to collapse the defense bureaucracy (the personnel of TAF-Turkish Armed Forces), were not righteous, fair, honest, or well-intentioned cases at all. 

As a result of the trials initiated by these conspiracy files; the arrest and imprisonment of many commanders of the TAF-Turkish Armed Forces at the ranks of general and admiral levels, and even the Chief of General Staff, SERVED only the IMPERIAL ambitions of the USA regarding our country.

The public robberies and corruption amounting to billions of dollars committed by the CHIEF THIEF Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his family, some ministers in his government, and bureaucrats were INDEED UNDENIABLY REAL. 

The case files prepared against them (i.e., the December 17-25, 2013 corruption files) were DEFINITELY based on solid information, documents, and concrete evidence ; they were FILES OF ACTUAL THEFT AND CORRUPTION THAT ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO DENY.

However, those corruption files were PREPARED IN COLLUSION AND COORDINATION WITH THE USA, and although they were "UNDER THE GUISE OF JUDGING THE CORRUPTIONS OF the CHIEF THIEF RECEP TAYYİP ERDOĞAN and his team”, they were IN FACT engineered for the sake of the IMPERIAL interests of the USA regarding our country. 

Although those files aimed to overthrow and apprehend the ill-omened, corrupt and the CHIEF THIEF Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his team—who deserve to be punished not only a thousand times, but a million times—they actually SERVED the IMPERIAL desires, ambitions and calculations of the USA regarding our country Turkiye, rather than its welfare.

In this regard, I interpret both the CONSPIRACY (çökertme) files targeting the TAF-Turkish Armed Forces and the 17-25 December 2013 corruption files as follows:

Just as Muawiya, the son of Abu Sufyan, with his talent for DIABOLICAL CUNNING(Şeytânet) [see the Explanatory Notes on Key Concepts at the bottom] ;

• Used the RIGHTEOUS QUR'AN as a tool to gain acceptance for UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, and
• just as he opened the WAY TO THE SULTANATE with this DIABOLICAL METHODS & TACTICS, and
• just as he was the CHIEF PROGENITOR of the fact that "Dynasticist religionism" (Saltanat Dinciliği) [see the Explanatory Notes on Key Concepts at the bottom] has taken root and become a plague upon Muslims for centuries...
• The Hizmet Movement too, through these legal cases initiated with claims of "aiming for the MANIFESTATION OF TRUTH AND JUSTICE," acted as a SUBCONTRACTOR for FALSEHOOD (namely, served the USA's IMPERIAL projects regarding our country) ; in other words, while claiming TRUTH and the LOVE OF TRUTH, FALSEHOOD was intended, and FALSEHOOD was SERVED through these legal cases.

Now, let us come to the July 15, 2016 coup attempt in Turkiye, which was the FINAL STRAW (tüy diken)!

Regarding this distressing and loathsome coup attempt, I think as follows:

• No matter how much it is denied from the very beginning by the Hizmet Movement decision-makers—starting with Fethullah Gülen—and by the PURE AND INNOCENT HIZMET VOLUNTEERS who hang on their every word (ağızlarının içine bakan),
• This coup attempt is full of evidence so overt that it is SUFFICIENT TO JUSTIFY calling this Movement "FETÖ-Fethullahist Terror Organization”

Although ten years have passed as of today, there has unfortunately been no evidential developments providing "HEALING FOR THE CHEST" (sadre şifâ) [see the Explanatory Notes on Key Concepts at the bottom] that would convincingly save the Hizmet Movement from being BRANDED as "FETÖ" in the context of this attempt. 

On the contrary, all the arguments and JUSTIFICATIONS behind the accusation and branding of "FETÖ" still maintain their validity exactly as they are.

I must state with regret that my suspicions—that Fethullah Gülen could be, and even is, a CONVENIENT FIGUREHEAD (elverişli bir figüran) for the USA's IMPERIAL scenarios regarding our country—have INCREASED over time instead of decreasing.

This tragic and pathetic fate into which the Hizmet Movement was dropped by Fethullah Gülen and the cadre of "BIG BROTHERS" (Büyük Ağabeyler) around him, undoubtedly, DOES NOT require us to tolerate the crimes of the corrupt CHIEF THIEF Recep Tayyip Erdoğan—that ENEMY OF ATATÜRK, ENEMY OF THE ATATURK REPUBLIC, AND ENEMY OF SECULARISM, and that PROMOTER OF DYNASTICIST RELIGIONISM (saltanat dinciliği)—and his CRONIES (avene’si).

According to my readings ; in the contexts of ; 

• ENMITY TOWARD ATATÜRK,
• ENMITY TOWARD THE ATATÜRK REPUBLIC, 
• ENMITY TOWARD SECULARISM,
• DECEIVING BY USING ALLAH (Allah ile aldatma) [see the Explanatory Notes on Key Concepts at the bottom], and
• DYNASTICIST RELIGIONISM:

There is ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE between ;

• Said-i Kurdî (Nursî), Fethullah Gülen, and all other Islamist community leaders, opinion leaders, and fraudulent tariqat sheikhs, and

• The CHIEF THIEF Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the so-called "hodjas" whom he respects, and the filthy guy I refer to by the nickname "THE FEZ-WEARING SYCOPHANT" (Fesli Yavşak), Kadir Mısıroğlu who finally croaked some years ago, and his ilk.

In this context, I feel the need to REITERATE my BROTHERLY advices to my fellow Hizmet volunteers who have not been tainted by all this filth, and who were not even aware of it, as follows :

• All or most of you have children you are obliged to care for. Making a living is thus a common concern for all of you. Rightly so, you spend a significant amount of your time securing a livelihood for yourselves and your children. 
• Therefore, do not waste or squander the small but precious time you have left outside of your family responsibilities on absurd and futile matters!
• ALLOCATE your limited and precious time to LEARNING YOUR RELIGION AFRESH, PROPERLY, AND UPRIGHTLY!

After MANDATORILY arriving in Switzerland, during that painful and exhausting process of ENLIGHTENMENT, I CLEARLY REALIZED and UNDERSTOOD THAT;

• The religion I had learned since my childhood and tried my best to practice was, to a large extent, a FABRICATED RELIGION OF MU’AWIYA.
• In other words, it was NOT the true RELIGION OF ISLAM as revealed to the Prophet in the QUR’AN...
• Since realizing this, I have been striving not to kill time with nonsensical, empty, and absurd preoccupations; instead, I am dedicating the precious time of my remaining years to relearning my religion.
• I BROTHERLY advise you all to do the same.
• For the life is short, the world is fleeting and mundane, and time flows away like water. We are here today and gone tomorrow...!
• While we are still alive and capable, we must relearn our religion PROPERLY AND CORRECTLY.

On the other hand; the CHIEF THIEF Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his entourage have been attacking all the resources and riches of Turkiye for years, almost like STARVING FILTYHY PIGS. 

It is their day to shine…

And Turkish society continues to support them, saying, "THEY STEAL, BUT THEY WORK!”. In other words, Turkish society APPROVES of shamelessness, theft, and corruption!

The uninterrupted support Turkish society has given to the CHIEF THIEF Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his cronies for 24 years has dragged our country into its current pathetic state.

Some call this "the nation's desperation." By this, they imply that because the people couldn't find a better party to vote for, they were forced to support these debased political Islamists, thieves, and corrupt individuals!!!

As for me, in the context of "the nation’s desperation and the lack of alternatives to these corrupt political Islamist degenerates”, I think as follows:

After the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Ismet (İnönü) Pasha took over the CHP (The Republican People’s Party which was founded by Atatürk).  As both the Chairman of the CHP and the President of the country (the so-called SECOND MAN after Atatürk!), Ismet Pasha BETRAYED Atatürk’s ideals, i.e., the Kemalist principles of the Republic he founded and set on track through his revolutions—in short, he betrayed Atatürk and his legacy.

Between November 10, 1938 (the date of Atatürk's death) and May 14, 1950 (the date the Democrat Party—Adnan Menderes' party—came to power), the CHP under Ismet Pasha’s leadership COMPLETELY BROKE AWAY and distanced itself from Atatürk's ideals and the Republican legacy he left behind.

During Ismet Pasha’s long period of SINGLE-PARTY RULE, all the projects that Atatürk had planned during his lifetime but could not complete, entrusting them to the statesmen and politicians who would follow him, were either ABANDONED, DISTORTED, OR OVERTURNED.

In other words, the ideals and legacy that Atatürk had adopted for the good of our country and nation, and which he tried to realize rapidly, were BETRAYED.

This betrayal was continued by all other political leaders and cadres who led the CHP after Ismet Pasha.

If you happen to read the late Prof. Dr. Yaşar Nuri Öztürk’s book titled “The CHP After Atatürk: The Adventure of Misreading the Era”, you will learn these bitter truths.

From Menderes' DP in 1950 all the way to today—specifically March 2026, when these debased political Islamist thieves and corrupt individuals have become a plague upon us—the 76-year streak of right-wing, nationalist, "sanctity-defending (mukaddesatçı)”, conservative, pro-American, fanatic religionist, Islamist, etc., political leaders and cadres have been ENTIRELY AND TOTALLY HOSTILE TO ATATÜRK. 

Expecting them to protect and promote Atatürk's ideals and legacy is no different than LOOKING FOR A CALF UNDER AN OX! (a futile search).

Setting aside earlier Muslim Sultanates (Umayyad, Abbasid, Fatimid, Seljuk, etc.), even the Ottoman Sultanate, of which we are so proud (!), was NOT AT ALL DIFFERENTfrom our contemporary corrupt CHIEF THIEF Recep Tayyip Erdogan, his dynasty, and his entourage in terms of gluttony, theft, and corruption.

"I gave my greetings (I saluted), but they did not accept it, saying it was not a bribe...!" said the poet (*) Fuzûlî, one of the famous Divan poets during the era of Suleiman the Magnificent when the Ottoman Empire was at the peak of its power.

What is meant by this statement is:

"BRIBERY" was so widespread in the Ottoman administrative and political circles of that time that state administrators and bureaucrats would not even accept "words of greeting, salutations”, because they weren't bribes—meaning they had no monetary value!

This famous Divan poet undoubtedly expressed a bitter reality of that sultanate era with poetic skill; in other words, he told the naked truth!

(*) “A Divan Poet is a classical Ottoman poet belonging to a sophisticated, highly structured literary tradition (Divan Poetry). They were the 'poet-intellectuals' of the Empire, masters of complex metaphors and rhythmic precision who blended spiritual philosophy with courtly elegance."

Leave aside the kingdoms of non-Muslim countries; haven't the sultanates of Muslims themselves always been like this throughout history...!?

Yes, they certainly were.

Today, we are the victimized and oppressed "Hizmet-affiliated" Muslims of Türkiye who have been branded with that humiliating "FETÖ-Fethullahist Terror Organisation" label.

We must express these bitter truths without hesitation, without shrinking back, and with civil courage—or rather, we must confess :

Fethullah Gülen and the oblivious, unawakened, short-sighted, visionless, archaic, and anachronistic close friends of him (members of his high consultation councils!) who huddled around him SPENT US—THE NAIVE, PURE, AND WELL-INTENTIONED HIZMET FOLLOWERS—LIKE SMALL, LOOSE CHANGE, much like SPENDTHRIFT GAMBLERS, in the dangerous GAMBLE they took against the Republic of Turkiye-that is, their adventure of seizing the state through clandestine methods.

In other words, they sacrificed us for their personal and dangerous ambitions and whims.

The FAKE religion they taught us by acting as BASE & ORDINARY PROPAGANDISTS—which they called ISLAM—is NOT the religion of Islam found in the QUR’AN. 

On the contrary, it is the RELIGION OF THE SULTANATE of the cursed Mu’awiya bin Abu Sufyan and all the cursed kings (sultans) who took the throne after him.

To consolidate their own rule, those despotic sultans had this FAKE RELIGION fabricated by people dressed as religious scholars who were nothing more than their PALACE SYCOPHANTS. 

In other words, this FAKE RELIGION taught to us is simply a DYNASTICIST RELIGION FABRICATED/INVENTED by the cursed Muawiya the son of Abu Sufyan of the tribe of Umayyads.  

While on the subject of religion, I must also emphasize these :

There is RELIGION, and then there is religion...!

The religion taught, propagated, and practiced in the Islamic world, including Turkiye, is largely NOT the religion in the QUR'AN which was revealed to Prophet Muhammed and which he conveyed to his companions.

On the contrary, it is the DYNASTICIST RELIGION fabricated by (and for) the CURSED Mu’awiya bin Abu Sufyan, who, 30 years after the Prophet's death, used the TRUTH OF THE QUR'AN AS A MEANS TO VALIDATE INJUSTICE, seizing power through Byzantine palace intrigues/tactics and the force of the sword.

This Mu’awiya, son of Abu Sufyan:

• With his talent for DEVILRY (with his diabolical cunning), and
• By using the TRUTH OF THE QUR'AN AS A MEANS TO VALIDATE INJUSTICE,
• Seized the prototype Islamic City-State founded by the Prophet and his companions in Medina,
• TRANSFORMED IT INTO A SULTANATE (kingdom),
• Appointed his son YAZID the CURSED (Yazid I) as his successor while he was still alive,
• And thus, the UMAYYAD SULTANATE (DYNASTY) was established.

This cursed Mu’awiya, to consolidate (strengthen and make permanent) his cursed sultanate:

• Committed every kind of atrocity,
• Gave staggering amounts of money from the Bayt al-Mal (state treasury) to his own sycophant religious men to have thousands of lies fabricated under the name of hadith (sayings of the Prophet). 
• He could not corrupt, change, or distort the Qur'an. For, as God Himself stated in the Qur'an that the Qur'an is entirely under God's protection until the Day of Judgment.
• But he completely twisted and overturned the Islamic belief and creed (aqidah) within the Qur'an,
• He revived the pre-Islamic Jahiliyyah (ignorance) mindset and customs,
• He had the fourth and the LAST LEGITIMATE caliph Ali, the son of Abu Talib, assasinated first, followed by his sons Hasan, Husayn, and other descendants of the Prophet (Ahl al-Bayt),
• In the palace he built in Damascus, he adopted and lived the IMMORAL lifestyles and sultanate cultures of the Sassanid and Byzantine palaces in all their pomp, magnificence, and depravity,
• He ruled Muslims with total tyranny and despotism.

From the Umayyads all the way to the Ottomans—for nearly 1,400 years—all the so-called Muslim sultans who ruled the Islamic Ummah lived their immoral palace lives and "drinking gatherings" (işret meclisleri) in luxury and decadence. 

These lifestyles were conceptualized, institutionalized, and thus cloaked in legitimacy by those DRESSED AS DYNASTICAL-RELIGIONIST ULEMA under the name "LEVÂZIM-I SALTANAT" (The Indispensables of the Sultanate).

You can read and learn detailed information regarding this LEVÂZIM-I SALTANAT from the valuable book titled “Has Bağçede Ayş-u Tarab”(Pleasure and Revelry in the Private Garden) written by our late master of history, Prof. Dr. Halil İnalcık.

Through this gate of malice opened by Mu’awiya son of Abu Sufyan, the other Umayyad sultans of his lineage, and the Abbasids, Seljuks, Baburids (Mughals), Fatimids, Ottomans, and hundreds of other large and small sultanates across Islamic geographies who followed them, left no trace of the religion described in the Qur'an or practiced by the Prophet. 

Thus, the Islam in the Qur'an was made to be forgotten, and it was indeed forgotten.

In place of the Islam in the Qur'an, a FABRICATED RELIGION—initiated by the accursed Mu’awiya and perpetuated with additions by the so-called Muslim dynasties that reigned throughout long Islamic centuries—was propagated and taught to Muslims.

In this context, setting aside other modern-day Islamic countries which are no different from us, the current deplorable state of our own country is as follows:

The leaders, bigshots, opinion leaders, teachers, theorists, masters, "elder brothers" (abiler), and the fraudulent sheikhs, gouwses, mahdis, and messiahs—the ones who supposedly "fly through the air without falling and walk on water without sinking (!)"—of all the Islamist communities, sects, orders (tarikats), Islamists, political Islamists, and their parties and organizations in our country, are mostly fraudulent individuals and they, in their vast majority :

• DO DECEIVE PEOPLE WITH GOD,
• Are DYNASTICIST-RELIGIONISTS,
• Are ordinary and cliché PROPAGANDISTS OF A FAKE RELIGION,
• Are DEVILS IN THE GUISE OF THE PROPHET IDRIS,
• Are the SAINTS OF SATAN,
• Are incurable ENEMIES OF ATATÜRK, THE REPUBLIC OF TURKIYE, AND SECULARISM.

Consequently, the religion taught to us is NOT the RELIGION OF ISLAM IN THE QUR’AN; it is a fake religion spearheaded by Mu’awiya son of Abu Sufyan and twisted, distorted, and fabricated over centuries by all the so-called Muslim sultans and those "apologies for scholars" (alim müsveddeleri) who chose the worthless, three-penny, three-day life of this mundane world just to curry favor with those despot sultans.

UNFORTUNATELY, the religion understood, explained, and REPRESENTED by our country’s PRESIDENCY OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS (Diyanet) is also, to a large extent, this FABRICATED RELIGION OF MU’AWIYA.

In our country, there are undoubtedly—praise be to God—many very precious Islamic scholars who know, explain, and teach the Islam found in the Qur'an.

I cannot list the names of all these valuable Islamic scholars one by one.

However, there is one distinguished religious scholar whom I have known, read, and listened to; who served as the catalyst for me to RECOGNIZE AND IDENTIFY THE FABRICATED RELIGION, and from whom I learned (and continue to learn) the REVEALED RELIGION—that is, the Islam in the Qur'an:

He is the late Prof. Dr. YAŞAR NURİ ÖZTÜRK…

I am grateful to him for allowing me to begin learning my religion PROPERLY AND CORRECTLY, and I recommend reading and listening to him to all my friends and colleagues with peace of mind.

I may not have been able to pen or express my intentions (merâm) perfectly or fluently. 

Some of my evaluations may be found strange or may not be accepted by some. 

However, let there be no doubt regarding my sincerity and devotion!

Furthermore, I ask for your indulgence for any slips of the tongue...

Explanatory Notes on Key Concepts
