Ambitions of imperialists & zionists.

Two Legacies Imperialism Seeks to Destroy in Turkey

(Excerpts from the speech delivered by the late Prof. Dr. Yaşar Nuri Öztürk during the extraordinary session of the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkiye) on April 23, 2006)

These days, the ambitions towards our region of the imperialists and Zionists attacking Iran, and the utopianism of the Kurds eager to serve as their willing pawns, have prompted me to recall the late Yaşar Nuri Öztürk's historic observations from 2006. Thus I wanted to share this with you in the hope that you will find it useful and enlightening!

With love and respect,

The West, harboring an unyielding resentment and animosity toward Atatürk, has continuously used REACTIONARY MOVEMENTS IN TURKIYE as a tool to sabotage the anti-imperialist character of Atatürk Republic.

In the Islamic world, Turkey is the only country that fought imperialism, defeated it, and established a state in spite of it. And the only individual to achieve this is Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

This is why the representatives of imperialism, its extensions, and its internal collaborators in our country can never stomach Atatürk; they attack from all fronts to undermine and eradicate him and his legacy.

The magnificent progress achieved by the Atatürk revolution is more than similar developments in the West. In the West, such progress was achieved by COMPLETELY EXPELLING RELIGION FROM HUMAN LIFEIn our case, however, THIS DEVELOPMENT EMBRACED THE TRUTH AND SPIRIT OF RELIGION

Considering this reality, it is a debt of conscience to state:

The Republic of Turkiye is a kind of ‘SACRED TRUST’ (kutsal emanet), not only for us but for the entire Islamic world.

If we look at what is deemed fit for the Islamic world today in the name of democracy and progress, we can better grasp the meaning and importance of this trust

One meaning of this trust is having achieved independence, democracy, and development without falling under the yoke of imperialism.

Atatürk is the only leader who could achieve democracy and progress without sacrificing the independence, identity, and resistance of Islam and Muslims in the struggle against imperialism.

The West, which keeps its imperialist spirit and ambitions alive today under the veil of globalization, views two legacies in the Islamic world as serious obstacles and makes the destruction of these two legacies the core of its politics and strategies:

  1. The Muhammadan legacy, namely Islam,
  2. The Mustafa Kemal legacy, namely the Republic of Turkiye

These two legacies, which were the fundamental and indestructible sources of resistance for our sovereignty during the War of Independence and remain so today, are being targeted for neutralization through corruption via various pretexts, operations, and interventions.

Because Turkey is the most resilient geography of these two legacies, it has become the primary and urgent target of exploitation and invasion projects like the GOP (Greater Middle East Project).

Turkiye is the main target not only for the destruction of the Atatürk legacy but also for the destruction of the Islamic legacy. Turkiye bears the greatest share of suffering from post-9/11 policies that revolve around the axis of religion, specifically Islam.

Had developments been evaluated with good intentions, the opposite would have occurred. But it did not.

To collapse the Islamic legacy, campaigns were launched claiming that the era of Prophet Muhammad had ended. Two strategies were determined:

  1. Insulting Prophet Muhammad,
  2. Reintroducing Jesus as the sole savior.

While the first strategy was carried out through insulting cartoons drawn by anti-Muslim Westerners, the second strategy was managed through encomiums for Jesus by religious cults (jamaats) in Turkey.

The GOP Project needed a prophet; he was designated as the ‘Returning Jesus’.

A book was needed; that was to be the ‘GOSPELIZED QUR’AN’.

In the context of destroying the Islamic legacy, after experiments with ‘INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE, MIXED-GENDER PRAYER, and CALVINIST & PROTESTANT ISLAM’ the process of the ‘GOSPELIZATION OF QUR’AN’ began.

The evil directed at the Atatürk legacy highlights its destruction through three insults:

  1. When speaking of the person: Insulting Atatürk,
  2. When speaking of the principle: Insulting Secularism,
  3. When speaking of the institution: Insulting the Turkish Armed Forces.

These three targets are always present in the attack strategies aimed at destroying Turkiye and the sovereignty of the Turkish state.

Our nation’s prevailing conviction regarding this cruel attack is as follows:

Western imperialists want to strip the Atatürk legacy of its power as a force of resistance and conclude the struggle that has been ongoing in Anatolia since the Battle of Manzikert in 1071.

It was Atatürk who prevented this struggle from being concluded in favor of the West at Gallipoli and during the War of Independence.

That is why Atatürk is the first target of attack in all provocations aimed at harassing our sovereignty.

The West, for the sake of grudge and stubbornness, falls into a whirlpool of inconceivable contradictions.

On one hand, it claims that an ‘Islamo-fascist development’ wants to destroy the Atatürk regime in Turkiye; on the other hand, through Huntington’s theories and European Parliament reports, it imposes on us the demand to ‘give up on Atatürk.’

If the West, especially the USA, believes there is a trend toward Islamo-fascism in Turkey and is truly alarmed by it, it should abandon the ‘Moderate Islam’ project under the GOP and put forward a new project that would benefit both Turkey and themselves.

However, such a project cannot be produced by the West.

Such a project can only be prepared by Turkish intellectuals and politicians who possess the competence to know both the Islamic legacy and Atatürk equally well, and who have the accumulation of knowledge and sagacity to derive useful prescriptions from these two legacies for humanity, the Middle East, and Turkiye.
